the 2004 tera melos demos, listed as “some songs” on the back cover. we started the band in roseville, ca, practicing for about a year before we played our first show. we practiced in an old motel that was used as a rehearsal space for a handful of punk and metal bands. it was known as, “the whore house.” it’s previously life was a brothel. it was a busted up, run down building- smashed up toilets, piles of rubble, a stairway filled with garbage etc. scary stuff. the person who ran the building was this sketchy guy named mark. we were at the practice spot 4-5 days a week and he’d hear us play a lot. at some point he told us he had a studio downstairs and offered to record us. i believe it was a “$100 per song” kinda thing. when we had enough songs we booked a few days to record 4 songs. we recorded this instrumental demo with the intention of getting it to potential singers. it was absolutely not the intention of this recording to have it out in the world, as it was not an accurate representation of how we wanted our band to be perceived. the music was written and captured with future vocals in mind. we eventually started playing shows (instrumentally) and after months of searching for a singer we decided we needed something to sell on these diy tours we’d started booking. i haven’t listened to these songs since probably 2005. i think a lot of the riffs/parts were pilfered into other songs that would make up our untitled record.i still struggle with whether or not we should have released this demo, because it just helped to cement us into the “instrumental band” category that we were never interested in. but ya know, they all lived happily ever after or whatever. 

we made 200 of these. the sleeves are envelopes, cut in half and then photocopied onto. the cds were burned and then spray painted.
