I have been a soloist with symphony orchestras across the US over the last 20 years or so, and one of my favorite series of performances was with my friend, Star Trek and LGBTQ icon George Takei (I was honored to sing at George and Brad’s wedding in LA).  The performances were “Sci-Fi Spectacular” concerts and I would sing a ridiculously high version of “Can You Read My Mind” from Superman and George would narrate the alien speech from “The Day The Earth Stood Still”. George gave me this gem after our first performance together. He signed it “To Mike - What a stellar experience working with you! George Takei.” Oh my..what a guy! It was a career highlight working with George and making so many sci-fi geeks happy with these concerts.
