A career highlight was being nominated for the Male Vocalist Award along some of the greatest male vocalists of all time. Steve Winwood, Del McCoury, Delbert McClinton, and John Anderson. Del McCoury won the award, I recall, but again it was an honor to stand next to him that night. I performed a song from Dennis DeYoung’s Hunchback of Notre Dame during the show, and Alison Krauss came up to introduce herself and tell me how much she enjoyed it. I could hardly speak, and I remember just staring and laughing at her. A very surreal moment, for sure. I was nominated for this after I sang the challenging title roles in Dennis DeYoung's Hunchback of Notre Dame and Marcus Hummon's Francis of Guernica.
