This is a collage made from pieces of objects I’ve used in my stop-motion animation—background elements and parts that moved. Some of it is older, some hand-painted and hand-watercolored. The house is hand-painted and hand-watercolored, while the rest are copies of my original watercolors that I printed and cut out so I could manipulate them differently. Some pieces are literally bits I’ve already animated. The scene is improvised, like much of my work. I keep painting images of islands; I’m kind of obsessed with them. The idea of something existing, surrounded by a body of water, really intrigues me.  So yeah just an old house on a rock, with some greenery and a couple of trees sitting out in the middle of the ocean.
