This is a 35mm film reel from HERETIC, a film I co-directed/co-wrote/co-produced for A24. While the film was shot on a digital format by cinematographer Chung-hoon Chung (DP of Oldboy), my filmmaking partner (Bryan Woods) and I wanted to make a 35mm print that could be screened at various venues, including the Vista Theater in Los Feliz and the Music Box in Chicago. We were concerned that some of the colors would have a difficult time translating to 35mm film, so a test print was made of the last section of the movie, which is what this item is. This film print accumulated some scratches during production, but it was shipped to us in Iowa where we ran it through a 35mm projector at The Last Picture House, the theater that Bryan and I co-own in Davenport and made sure the colors were satisfactory. Please note this is only Reel 6 of the movie, which is about a 20 minute section of the end of the film. We chose this section of the film to test as it contains the darkest and brightest sections of the movie.
