“The Pull” is a song about alcoholism. It's about a guy who goes into AA and, once he's sober, realizes he knows absolutely nothing, so he quits talking. His sister asks why he stopped, and he says, "Because I don't know anything." The pull of booze makes him so mad he starts boxing. He borrows his sister's car to get to and from fights, but after he detaches a retina he has to quit. The pull still won't leave him alone, so he starts running every night until he can't think, just to escape the pull of tequila.
